The Visiting Nurse Association of Johnson County (VNA) hosts public flu vaccination clinics beginning in late September and continuing through early November. The VNA need volunteers to help make these clinics successful. Please sign-up here: Flu Clinic Volunteers Please contact Volunteer Coordinator Sarah Valiga at sarah.valiga@iowacityhospice.org or 319-337-9686 with any questions.
Influenza is a serious disease that can lead to hospitalization and sometimes, even death. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that all individuals aged 6 months and older get a flu vaccine each year.
Public health leaders are urging everyone to get the flu vaccine to both protect ourselves and prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed with sick patients.
The Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) flu clinics help ensure that our community is protected from the flu. The VNA provides community immunization clinics each fall. When you get your flu shot through the VNA, revenue from the program is invested back into the local community to provide home care.
